Our Top Cold Fighting Secret

Our Top Cold Fighting Secret

As acupuncturists, we are constantly around sick patients.  We actually encourage sick people to come in and be around us!  Last week on our blog, we posted an article about the top 10 ways to prevent getting sick this winter.  Today we’ll discuss how we treat ourselves (and our families) when we get actually do get sick.

We start treating ourselves at the first sign of a cold.  Beginning then is crucial.  We find that if we start taking an herbal formula then, at least 75% of the time our body is able to fight off the cold before it develops (we see this same level of success in our families and patients as well).  Since we have an herbal pharmacy on site, it is easy for us to put together a formula to treat any symptoms we have.

Our teacher Dr. Tao Xie taught us an amazing formula which is based on the most cutting edge approach to treating colds used in China today.  We have found this formula to be very effective clinically, and have now used it on hundreds of cases.  The only problem was that sometimes we were unable to get the herbs into patients’ hands before their cold set in.  Perhaps the patient didn’t recognize the signs early enough, were too busy to come into the office, or just started getting sick when we were not open.  Whatever the reason, sometimes our patients didn’t get treatment soon enough and the illness became much more difficult to treat.

We have just found an amazing product that solves this problem.  The good folks at Evergreen herbs have made a great formula called Lonicera Complex.  This formula contained almost exactly the same herbs that we use in our custom formulas for early stage colds.  The herbs are in a very potent powdered extract form and have been encapsulated to make them even easier to take.  Any time we feel a cold coming on, this is now the formula we reach for.

Within this formula is a series of herbs that work synergistically to get you healthy fast.  There are herbs with demonstrated anti-bacterial and (most importantly) strong anti-viral properties. The herbs are clinically proven to reduce the severity and duration of both bacterial and viral infections.  The formula contains herbs to improve the immune system, treat cough, sinus/nasal congestion, headache, body-aches, and sore throat.  The anti-bacterial effects come without the damage to healthy bacteria which results from the use of antibiotic medications.

Lonicera Complex is an excellent addition to your medicine cabinet.  We are recommending that all of our patients buy a bottle to keep at home for their families to use at the first sign of cold or flu.  That’s what we do.  We have Lonicera Complex in stock and plan to keep a steady supply around all winter.

If you have any questions about this formula, please see Mark or Adam.
